I recently bought this coin. This coin has full luster. (it's hard to see in the pics but take my word for it.) Some of these Lincolns were struck on some pretty bad planchets. I'm half tempted to send it in and see what a TPG would grade a monstrosity like this.
EEWWWW...that is ugly... LOL It is still a nice cent, and it looks like it has luster So what was the price?
I do not think it is that ugly. I am not sure what you mean "XF money". Numismedia says XF40 = $0.58. I would pay that in a heart beat. Even MS60 is only $1.27. It is far from the nicest woodie I have seen, but I like woodies. As for a grade, that looks like a 65 to me were it a normal color. I would guess 64 slabbed.
I 100% disagree with you guys. That is one good looking cent. There are better woodies out there for sure. But it is still nice. I would pay upwards of a couple dollars for it.
Who wants something everyone else has? :goof: Your specimen is unique and has character! :thumb: Love it!!!! :eat: Ribbit
LOL!!! That made me just about die! I like this coin though, it has some sass, and some attitude to it, it gives off the message, "I'm Different" I LIKE THAT IN A COIN! LOL
AU58, Maybe its just me but look at the cheek, the upper lip and the back of his head, also see the hit on the O in one on the reverse. I dont think the coin is ugly but I do think its unique appearance has deterred from the true grade of the coin.
I LIKE "different" coins. My favorite are the post 1943 brass shell issues Lincoln's as each has a history of it's own/tone/tune & luster.
Looks like coagulated dellars like on my S VDB but much worse. I agree a very interesting coin. AU due to the cheek.
