ok, gang... since the forum is good at determining varieties, I recently answered a question about a proof 1970-S small date cent. I, of course, was wrong when I said it was a large date. So I looked through my "junk box" and found this 1970-S proof and was wondering if you could help me determine the same answer. Large Date or Small Date? which one is it?

thanks in advance for your comments

The way I remember it when I was first learning:

1970: Low Seven = Large Date

actually, from what I can discern, the easier way to tell is by looking at the shape of the 9, and where it inside end of the number points to.

They seem to be more readily distinguishable than the height of the 7.

Yeah, but do you have a quick and easy phrase/quip to help remember what you just said? ;)

Some people can see 1 detail easier than another, for me the 7 is the easiest. For others the 9 is easier. Doesn't matter which diagnostic you use, and there are several - just use the one easiest for you to see.
