Are my eyes playing tricks on me? or is the 4 in the date seem to have some kind of doubling? Possibly a reflection? I was taking this picture to catalog my Jefferson collection, and stumbled across it.. I cannot find any information about this Jefferson, let alone any Jefferson errors. Any help would be appreciated! Also, what are some good sites to locate Jefferson errors?
I see what you are talking about, but wait for one of the experts. There wasn't anything listed in the Cherrypickers guide, but that does not mean anything.
I don't see any varieties listed for that date. Here is a link to a site that might help you! http://varietynickels.com/
I think i found something. 1940-D MDO-001 Designation: MD-1-O-VII (P, D, S, Proof) Description: Doubling on the 40 of date from repunching Grade: Population: Markers: Strength of doubling will vary depending upon hub and die state UVC-0650 DMR-001 Reverse is RDV-002 (straight steps) Reported by: James Wiles
As of right now, I'm only posting varieties that are RPM's OMM, etc. There are so many DD's that if I started doing the CONECA database it would never be completed. So my focus is on RPM's, and down the road, the MAJOR DD's. Speedy
Speedy , Thank you for taking on the Task of Building the site. The information you will provide will serve many. I'm certain I will learn some things too. Best of Luck. tom.
