According to the seller, this is a Crosby 4-c, Breen 1113. the rarest variety. I don't know, but the price was right. There is more visible of the lettering than in these photos, when I get around to axial lighting I'll try some more images. Comments welcome, it's homely but interesting.

    Attribution looks correct! :thumb:

The 4-C & 4-D are about tied for being the rarest so one could say it's the rarest. ;)

    Love it! :eat:

    Ribbit :)

    Leadfoot there is no spoon

That's a cool coin even if it's worn down to a slug, bent, holed and repaired!

Super cool & thanks for sharing...Mike

Glad you like! It has seen a lot of use and changed hands often, I'd say. I'll add a couple of things that my rather poor photos don't show clearly, it's planar, and what looks like a plug on the reverse is actually a spot of corrosion. You can actually make out most of the legends and the '78' of the date. It has a nice, iridescent patina as well, no signs of wax or lacquer. One of those coins you can turn over and over in your fingers.
