Looking for a few SLAB buying reputable sites. Looking for a Lincoln 1909 VDB S. Any suggestions? Prefer a PCGS SLAB.
Are you asking for a site, in which to buy slabbed coins? And you want a 1909 S VDB... www.ebay.com www.ha.com www.davidlawrence.com
I would try those two mentioned earlier. Nice thing is I bet if they don't have what you want they will be happy to obtain it for you.
For that coin, you need to look at Heritage. BTW, good luck on your $7K. PCGS run from $14K to $25K. You might be able to find a not-so-nice NGC for $7K.
I actually got my first slabbed coin from HA - its in the mail, a nice MS62 1888 Morgan. I am very tempted to crack it out of its home to put in into my album.
Rather than looking for a good site that sells slabs I would think you would have better luck looking for a dealer that sells the particular coin you are looking for.
To tell ya the truth, I had no intention of buying anything ... I was just setting up my HA account and getting familiar with their process. I ended up bidding on something to see the process with no intention to keep bidding, but alas I won it And since its price is the same as one of my raw coins can get, I might as well, however I was in recent contact with a craigs list seller of a pcgs double eagle, I offered 1k even. dd: Also with no intention on this person saying yes.
Amen.... A dealer that has a good return policy. A dealer who will talk with you about the coin - its positives, its negatives. A dealer who would be willing to send you pictures. A dealer that, with appropriate references about you, will send you the coin "on approval" (before you commit to buying the coin). My point is that a relationship will serve you better in the long run. You can find slabs everywhere, but a dealer as described above is not found everywhere. Ebay is a wild gamble, especially for expensive coins. You want protection that a reputable dealer can provide.
The only MS-66 RD 09-S VDB you find at that price will be an ICG 66 holder with a 65 coin in it. Sorry I cannot help, the only SVDB's I currently have are a pair of PCGS AU-58's.
Thanks for the comments. Jack, are you the same Jack I used to purchase delicious habenero beef jerky from?! I miss it if this is you! Small world. Robert

If your really interested in any coin of excessive value I suggest a coin show. Look in Google for coin shows in your state or a state near you. Over the net, including any auction house, you are really taking a chance. At least at coin shows if you purchase any coin you can wander around and ask other dealers about it's authenticity. Try to remember that lately even PCGS slabs are being made in China as well as the coins. Experts at opening slabs are also popping up and replacing the coins with fakes. Again, at a coin show you have many others to check with.
