Q: Have pennies, 1984 and 1989, that looks like it has double stamp of D over S or D over D. These are not noted in the Red Book. Anyone have infomation on this matter.

    Hi,

We need images as what you describe is as close to impossible as it gets. We can help if we can see the mintmarks clearly in an image. Most often, on copper-plated zinc cents, there is corrosion that effects the way the mintmarks look.

    Thanks,
    Bill

Bill is right, often what looks like a mint mark variety is corrosion. A picture will help a lot. The good thing is , that even if it is not a variety or error you have learned something new. I still have rolls of Lincoln cents that I found when I first started, most have machine doubling that I thought was a Doubled Die variety. That is how we learn, search, find, read and ask questions.
    Good luck on your searching.
