I went to Wal-Mart today on my lunch hour and got this back in change. It's very crisp with a slight center fold down the middle but not actually creased if that makes any sense.

Also here is a pic of another bill I got at work that I really like.

Edited to say the star is the one I got at Wal-Mart today. The 0,7s is from work

Is it true that the star note here is from a run of 640,000 or did I see that wrong? If so is this worth much over face?

Also is there usually a premium for notes like my 0's 7's Note. I also have one that is 00000777

Thanks for posting - they're in great condition!

    Yup, it's a run of 640K

They are in pretty good condition for being from circulation. Everything I have comes from circulation. Not that I'm against buying just don't know enough to make an educated purchase.

Yes, but I think 2006 is still the active series for $1's so if they run out they can still print more so I wouldn't consider that 640,000 to be a final number...yet.

I would say it has a premium over face for sure because it's a low serial number...no matter how many more they print, that's still in the first 9999. :)

There's some premium, but I don't think it's that big. As much as I like notes with 7's, I'd probably only pay about $5 for that note.

Thanks. Yes I thought that they would maybe still make more of those star notes. How long do they make 2006's? Or any year for that matter? That really confuses me.

I think until the secretary of the treasury or treasurer changes or until the decide it's time for a significant design change.

Ok, here's a better answer for you from the uspapermoney.info site:

"Originally, the series date was the year the overall bill design was authorised or adopted, and the series letter was advanced each time a minor change was made to that design (usually a change of one or both signatures). This was the rule until 1974, when William E. Simon became Secretary of the Treasury and decided that each new Secretary would result in a change of the series year, not merely the series letter. The new policy has since been followed by every succeeding Secretary except G. William Miller, whose signature appears on notes designated Series 1977A rather than the expected Series 1979"

I do find lots of stars but most of them aren't anything special. Now and then I find a note I get excited about and these are 2 of them. Not that some of the "higher end" collectors would be excited about them but it does make a "rookie" collector like me happy!

Not me....we have beaches, theme parks, cruise ships, sunshine AND the Fun show every year! Can't trade all that for a few nice star notes!

not to hijack the thread, but lets see a pic of that!

I hear ya. I [usually] work at a bakery in a grocery store, and we have 2 cash registers (sometimes 1 if I work at another store).
I get excited everytime I find a star note too, mostly because they're so uncommon - but I don't keep them all, if they're really beat I'll put them back in. Or if they're higher than 1$ I'll save it and check its run, if its greater than 1mill I'll put it back.

Also, this reminds me, I should start applying for a bank job :D :D
