Jefferson Nickel NGC Registry Set (New Photos)

Every time I tweak my photographic set up and the results improve, I have to re-catalog my entire collection. Here is the first section of my NGC registry set. What do you think? Anyone interested in seeing an enlarged photo of a particular coin, please let me know.

The OP was Part1 (1938-1942). This photo shows Part3 (1946-1951). I am still working on Part2 (war nickel) photos and Part 4 & 5 (1952-1964).

 

Okay, here are the war nickels, but not all new photos. Half and half.

I recently purchased a 1953-D Jefferson RPM-1/Slabbed by Anacs. I would like to know what the Population of this (Rare-Variety) is.
I'm trying to find where I can upload a couple photo(s) for you to look at, can't find it.
The question, I'm tryin' to ask is,If it's a RPM-1 >> does this mean,it's a Inverted-D,or not ?
I do know that it's not recognized by the Red-Book, I read that only a handful of collector's out there,have this Rare Jefferson-Variety, this is a ( Anacs/MS-64/D/D/RPM-1 ) I would Love to hear from a Jefferson Variety-Collector, who would know about this coin,I would sure appreciate that! Respectively' Jim/Chasindreams

You would probably have better luck in the errors forum than here, post a new thread instead of replying to one, I loaned my cherry pickers book to someone so I don't have it to look that stats up for you but someone else should. Good luck!

 

Nice to see them again, they look really great. How do you get such great pictures of the toning? I can't seem to capture the subtle blues in mine and it always looks more golden than it is.

Comin Up! Both of these coins are Appalachians from the Greg Bingham collection. The 1945-D is really cool because when they re-holdered the coin, they added the star designation and kept the "T" designation by mistake. Too bad it is not full steps, otherwise it could have been a triple designation. The luster on the 1945-D is phenomenal. Probably the best I have ever seen on a war nickel. Anyway, here are the photos along with the descriptions I have used in my registry set.



This coin is from the appalachian hoard and part of the pedigreed Bingham Collection. The obverse is bathed in aquamarine and accented by antique bronze highlights. The reverse is mindblowing. Primarily gold toned with blushes of magenta and absolutely booming luster. Although the photos are excellent and provide and outstanding view of the surface and color, they can't truly represent the luster. An extraordinary piece with fantastic surfaces, great color, and the most amazing luster I have ever seen on a Jefferson nickel.




This coin belongs hanging on a wall in the impressionist gallery at the MET. The reverse toning might as well have been imparted by Monet himself. It is certainly one of the most attractive and uniquely toned coins of the entire series. The obverse is bright gold with pink and aqua highlights. The reverse is toned with vibrant bright green, gold, pink, and magenta. A one of a kind beauty from the appalachian hoard and the pedigreed Bingham Collection.

 

Well, now I'm in love with TONED jefferson nickels... Now I'm thinking about buying a few toned examples.. LOL
I'll see if ole' chameleon coins has any up for sale... MUST RESIST.... LOL

Uh oh! Sounds like you are coming out of the closet. Bernie only has two for sale and both are big money. I search E-Bay, Heritage, and BST's everyday for rainbow toned Jeffersons. If I find any good ones, I will let you know. Please keep in mind that the coins in my registry set are not cheap and are exceedingly difficult to find on the market.
