This is my first try at starting a thread, as suggested by De Orc. I had replied to an interest about the Bald Eagle Commem and some companion pieces. Part of the series is a collecter set w/ an Unc $ coin and a bronze version of the NWF medal of a soaring eagle and Teddy Roos on back. Back in 2003 the mint offered a set of 4 medals depicting various wild animals, including the eagle, in 90% silver in medal form. There is no demonination, usual inscriptions, date, and smooth edge rather than being reeded. I only purchased 2 of the eagle version and I have sat on them since. Now with the intro of this eagle series there is place for them w/ this set. Took some pictures w/ cam, quality is not great, hoping to improve on taking photos in future.
They sure look good... Good enough to eat... For pictures, play around with your camera, and the angles, and make sure to set the focus to MARCO... Marco is used for high detail
I went in full bore on these medals and purchased (10) each of all 4 medals!! They are nice pieces BUT never moved much in price, although they are all great motifs and I am happy to have the set for myself!! Not having a denomination probably sunk the price on them, there is 1 OZ of sillver in each and mintage was LOW!!
Just a small correction, they are 90% silver and have the same weight as circulating dollars (3/4 ounce silver). Many modern com's have this weight, not 1 ounce, which is assumed. Check out Mint specs.
