I've got a coin that's a little larger than a nickel with a hole smack dab in the middle of it. Around the hole there are about ten different small symbols. The coin has no date on it, and absolutely no letters that I know. No picture of a face or person. Just symbols. And the hole in the coin isn't there by accident-it's supposed to be that way. Just wondered if anyone knew of such a coin and could give me a name or a country it belongs to. Thanks-waterbed22
I can't get good image quality when I take the picture. It's out of focus. It looks like a pretty old coin. But no date is on the coin. Have you ever heard of such a coin?
Well there are many coins with holes in them...so if you can keep on trying...maybe even a scan of the coin.... Speedy PS--try this website... http://worldcoingallery.com/ Look under China, Japan and such...that might be where it is from.
There are many, many coins minted without dates, and many others are dated, but unless you are familiar with the script in which the date is expressed, you wouldn't realize it. There are more separate sets of numbers used in the history of coinage than the 26 listed in the Standard Catalog of World Coins.
There are also many tokens with holes drilled in them, as well as odd shaped metal discs that are uaed for things other than money. From what has been said, it could be any of these.
I'd go with Speedy, an oriental coin. We need a picture to make a good judgement. Even when it's a bit out of focus, it will tell us a lot more
