1943 P possible doubling

    It look likes doubling on the lettering, what do you guys think?:rolleyes:

    Die deterioration doubling. Note the orange peel effect. :)

    serrifs on S and T as well as r side of U

    Very possible doubled die along with die deterioration doubling there's notching on the S as well as the t, and some seperation lines and raised images on the U.

    That's what I had read before, that the if the serifs were doubled ,that there was some kind of doubling going on. There is this kind of separation on other parts of the obverse.

    This is not die deterioration - it is master die doubling that is exhibited on many war nickels.

    There is a form of die detrioration on this coin along with a doubled die

    JC, could you explain what form of die deterioration you are referring to? I see the Serifs and what the OP is referring to, Its very common on War Nickels.

    You could have a doubled die along with die errosin on a coin what you have is a lite form of die deterioration, but also a doubled die, when you look at the fields near the trust you could see a sign of die deterioration an orange peel effect.

    Coppercoins hit the key point. Technically, it's a doubled die but since it is master die doubling, it is without value as it appears on a huge number of Jeffersons and for several years..

    Most of you probably have a few in your collection of War Nickels but never noticed them.
