I just received my order number for what, you guessed it, my 5 coin and medal sets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ya u know what else happened today?? I got 20 rolls of nickels and got a 1935 buffalo nickel!!!!!!!!!! 4 S nickels (2 1969, 2 1970) alotta nice quality keelboats i tripled the amount of bison nickels i own (excluding the rolls) and id say almost 10 silver nickels, maybe more
I'm getting very negative about expecting to get mine. Oh well, I guess I'd better get ready to spend $60-$70 on eBay...
Not bad...also with the silver you got I think it was worth it!!! You might do what other guys do...save all of the silver and older (like the Buff) coins for a long time and then they take it to the coin shop and cash it in for a coin they want!! Speedy
Congratulations Spider! I got notice that mine shipped Friday, 6/24. I paid a steep price for my one '04 set, although considering what they're going for today, it was still a bargain.
It also says that the total cost is like $98.75. It also says that its shipping 5 sets. Last year, I thought the set was stupid, so I completely skipped it. Thats the plan
And what do you bet that this year the set value won't go anywhere....that is what happens to me all the time!! Speedy
Young collector, I was not as intelligent as you last year, and I didn't buy the 2004 coin and medal set. I just paid $135.50 for a set a couple of days ago. Since I have three children, I also bought some for them and got the price down to an average of $120.00, so you have got a great increase in current price. Now what will it be worth in 5 years? Probably still a profit for you, but I am sure it will not be for me. Good luck in your collecting!!!
Young Collector, yes I am talking about the 2004 Westward Journey Coin and Medal Set. I also just looked on eBay, and there are about 10 auctions ending within the next day, and the prices are all over $120.00. Are these sets worth $120? Not in my opinion, but that is an indication of the going price.
When I got mine I thought It was kind fo stuiped, now look at the price I wonder why people like them so much?
Young Collector, I don't think most of the people buying them think that the sets are wonderful. Much of it is the "herd mentality" that I am guilty of when I see something that I don't have in my collection, there are only a few of them (in this case only 25,000 of them were assembled), and the costs are high and possibly going higher. There are also the opportunists trying to make a buck, which is fine, but they are also competing with collectors to get the sets to resale or pumping up the price so they can dump their sets in stock. I know it sounds pessimistic; the best course to me is patient and consistent buying from reputable dealers and of course me for any price I propose.
