This is a German 2Mark coin from the German State of Baden. NGC forgot to mark it as a commemorative. It commemorates the death of Grand Duke Friedrich The First of Baden in 1907. I've spent the last ten years trying to assemble a set of 19th and 20th century German Commemoratives. I think I'll have to live to be 100 years old just to complete it. But it's sure fun trying to do it.

Beautiful gold toning on your 2-Mark coin. Please post photos of your other commemoratives if you have the pics.

I like the hat on the 2nd 2-Mark coin. It is the same used on the Tanganyika Rupee coins.

    Very best regards,

That is a very good one to have. I will post more, I just did not know if anyone liked the early German Reform coinage.

These some VERY nice examples. They are really not to expensive for a little lessor grades. I collect these also but its really difficult to pick up the 1880s-1890s issues. I have several extras I have listed on eBay this week but not as high of a grade as yours. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=320369960033 . The 2 and 3 Mark coins are not to hard to find either but all the 5 Mark coins are a lttle tough to find. What ofer issues you have in your collection? Regards, Mark

I collect the commemoratives in 2 Mark, 3 Mark and 5 Mark. I'm also working on a complete 1 Mark set of Type I and Type II rev.

This 2 Mark commemorates the Victory at the battle of Waterloo. The coin has a nice blue tone.

WOW...Tougher coin to find. Great toning. Whats the slabbed grade? I have had a hard time finding non cleaned examples but looks like you've had great success finding them, good job!

All these are very nice and seem to be gem or near so! Thanks for sharing!

I like the Leipzig one the best.

The Saxony one grades MS65. The Prussian Victory grades MS64. The Gold Anniversary from Baden grades MS64. I have a Prussian Victory coming in Pr.64, and a 5 Mark Golden Annivers. from Baden in MS64.
