Ana voting , who can vote

Wolka's vote to move the 2011 ANA Show from Indy to Chicago probably is more of a concern in Indiana than elsewhere in the US. Perhaps it was better for the ANA for the show to be moved to Chicago. I doubt the move was proposed and voted on just to be a slap in the face of Indiana.

I don't have any problem with two Governors being from the same state. Has that caused problems in the past and if so what kind of problems were they?

I don't want to sling mud but regarding Patti Finner all I will say is that she tends to cause more dissention than solidarity. I really don't think she has much of a chance of being elected but you never know.

Regarding Finner - this is her second attempt to run for President (first attempt was in 2003 against Gary Lewis, who defeated her). She did not attend the candidates forum at the spring ANA in Portland back in March due to a "collecting badge clinic" and what I find rather funny is that she had Bill Horton speak for her - and Horton was President when all the problems with the ANA finally came to a head.

She was unopposed, just like when she ran for President of Central States back in 2008. I was a 15 year member of that organization until this year as I am not happy with the direction that it is going. Seems that they (Central States) are trying to be another ANA, and this path is, as I see it, destructive at best.

This thread started as a simple question but has evolved into a great primer for those new to the ANA , Keep up the discussion guys I'm learning alot .

Agreed, this has become an interesting discussion.

One positive note: I do like the way that the ANA has moved in the direction of fiscal responsibility. That is, they are trying to operate within a balanced budget, as opposed to the prior administration.
The only item that is not within the constraints of a balanced budget is the legal expenditiures, both for the law suits started by Cippoletti, and the lawsuit by Cippoletti vs the ANA. It is a shame, but they (the ANA) will never be able to recoupe the cost of the legal expenses against Cippoletti, who caused the expenses.

Was anyone else at the ANA in Milwaukee in 2007?
I was there, and went to the dinner (mostly to get the special edition Red Book).

I nearly walked out when Horton gave the President's award to Cippoletti---

    For doing his job!

I stayed (just out of respect for Ken Bressett and a desire to get the book) But I did leave for the men's room so I wouldn't have to hear the speech.

It may make you feel better to know Board of Governors voted unanimously to rescind Cippoletti's Presidential Award. That was the first time the ANA rescinded an award.

Goes to show how a fine organization that was going to the dogs with bad leadership can be turned around , all it takes is all the members taking an active interest and vote out the bad and vote in the good . Kudos to the ANA members who stuck through the hard times to make it better .:D

I agree 100%. The members that quit and complained contributed nothing to solving the problems. I think it is better to remain an active member and work to turn things around than to cut and run and take potshots from the outside just to join again when things are running well. When it comes to the ANA I am not a fair weather fan.

    It made my day!

Yes, I heard about it at the time, and made my dues worthwhile.
