Acetone Time

    I am soaking a copper cent in Acetone. How long should I keep in in the jar ?

    Why are you soaking it? Generally a few minutes at the most, although more important is rinsing it several times with straight acetone to remove any residue that might attach to the coin. There are many threads on the use of acetone concerning, health, fire,explosion, and use of glass or appropriate acetone resistant plastics.

    Extended time won't hurt them in my opinion, but others may counsel differently.
