I went to the bank today to pick up a box of cents. The first thing the teller told me was 'we have none of the new pennies'. I told here 'good' lol i told her i was picking up a box because my daughter has started to express an interest in coins with different desings. We had bought her both a cent album and a state quarter album. I wanted a box with the older dates and not the new ones. So as the 1 teller was getting the box for me, my teller friend had a few notes for me... 3 $20 stars. 1999 - BA 01398475* Fine or so print run BA 000 00001 * BA 019 20000 * printed in October 2001 GB 05361806* Ex Fine or so print runs GB 000 00001 * GB 003 20000 * Mar 07 GB 032 00001 * GB 057 60000 * Apr 07 My note printed in April 2007 and last note- GE 01703870* Ex Fine or so print run GE 000 00001 * GE 032 00000 * Printed in August 2005 So i got them all for face, so nothign lost lol which do you think i should keep? I like the 1.92 million note, and the 3.2 million note. The 5.76 million printing is alot of notes, but still a nice star. so keep them all ... or let one or more go
Well.....based on many comment made by you my friend... Keep em all!! Nice teller finds and good luck searching through the cents!! Take care and have fun!! RickieB
i know i was thinking the same thing as i typed it all up. the reason i posted the thread though is because i am very short on cash lol. I need to submit an order for supplies, and these notes cut into my funds. I had to buy them off the teller though, ya know. I couldnt tell her i didnt want them, as then she might not save them for me any more. I prolly will keep them all, but i am torn becuause i would hate to 'use' the stars in commerce, but i need the supplies
I would personally not keep a $20 star note unless it had a run of 320,000 or less -- or had a very low serial number (4 or more zeros). I mean, for $60 I could buy 5 silver proof sets (1960-1964), or I could go to Wendy's about 10 times with change left over but that's just me.
Oh very nice mate now it's $20 is it LOL so the little one is starting to collect Wow way to go DJ :hail:
$20 Star notes that are circ. bring no premium in this part of the country. $20 Star notes that are circ. bring no premium in this part of the country. In fact no note that is circ. and also a star note brings any added premium around these parts - they are common as the day is long.
Mind if I ask what part of the Country you are in? I disagree with your statement, not to be argumentitive, however, with smaller printings of replacement notes and the right collector....creates a market! There are notes that I need that are becoming very hard to find in higher grades..I will have to settle for a XF to AU note on some of these I am sure... So if you find these stars as common as the day is long, I would suggest that you save them! Good luck.... RickieB
East Tenn and it's perfectly okay if you wan to collect them East Tenn and it's perfectly okay if you wan to collect them - I'm just telling you what we do with circ. modern star notes - no one pays extra, no one wants them, you can't sell them - we spend them. All I know is the 30 or 40 dealers I work with plus the general public all share this opinion - unless it's crisp, fancy numbered or much older it's spend money.
Keep, but separate into the least to most desireable. If you HAVE to spend, use the least desireable first.
I do love to keep any and all stars! But this $60 was earmarked for a supply order. As it is, i t seems i already over spent a tad So i will either have to cash these $20's in, or find another cash source lol oh well, i will just have to keep my eyes open for more stars
my &$@#(*@%@$ scanner wont scan the 2004A's, sorry! DANG EPSON STINKS!!! ( i only partly wish i could use non 50's television show language to describe epson scanners!!!!!) So i cant show you scans of the 2004A's, but i can show you the 1999! obverse
