So, the seated dime series seems to be one in which I struggle finding nice type specimens for a price I'm willing to pay. This is a recent purchase that I have mixed feelings about. The price was decent, but I will need to upgrade this one eventually, as I feel like I settled for a filler. It has some nice toning, and traces of luster within the protected areas; but I also believe it has been overdipped/cleaned based on the texture of the surfaces. The only ones I've liked have been $400+ coins, so I admit that I settled here. Oh well, I can't win them all.

It does have that look about it, but it is still a nice piece and they are getting harder to find.

Like bq said , the older coins like Bust and Seated coins are hard to find uncleaned , that's why nice original examples go for a premium , but they're out there if you take your time . But yours is still an nice example .

thanks guys. Yeah, that series singlehandedly makes the DANSCO 7070 a bear to complete! There are 15 slots in the album for seated coins... For some reason though, I've had much better luck getting quality original seated half-dimes and seated quarters for decent prices. I wonder if the dimes circulated more, or were more heavily cleaned?

I don't collect these but has that hairlined look that retoned nicely for the most part. Cool coin!!

I love the seated liberty design, but my obsession with gold coins has kept me from getting a nice one :p

    I agree with your assessment.

Furthermore, I think that you shouldn't settle. The coins I'm disappointed in most in my collection are those that I "settled" for, and in retrospect I wish I had been more patient. These coins (seated dimes, even the with arrows variety) aren't difficult coins and there's no real reason to settle in this series, IMO.

Agreed. Fortunately I settle much less now a days than I did several years ago. For some reason, I have struggled with the seated 10 cent coins in my type set....I'm trying to figure out why. I might just sell all three of them and start over.
