Hi everyone- I've been going round and round with this one for a while now. I've seen pics of this coin on the obverse and the reverse, but never on the same coin. It looks to be in good condition (almost too good), however the reverse looks like it has some authentic wear. If anyone has seen this I'd appreciate a line or two regarding same. I've been enjoying the ancients, both the ones I've been coming across and the ones that members of this forum have in their collections. After all, it is REAL history!
BTW, Septimus was quite a character--- ran all kinds of military ops, made many conquests, and then--- fell to a disease (some kind of a bug). I guess it's just in our DNA...
Wish I could help, but it makes it easier for members who know these things to post full-size, cropped and rotated pictures...
Ah, yes, Septimius Upsidedownius. It doesn't look too good to be true at all, too me. If you like it then take a swing. I wouldn't pay more than $10-$20. Though, the pics aren't doing the coin any favors either.
See if the one below is a match to yours. I agree with Ryro's estimate closer to his low number. These tend not to be nice; it was a bad period at the mint. 'Too good to be true' would be a great deal nicer than mine. Hi Doug- Many thanks for your help sir! The first pic captures it perfectly, with the facial features and the position of the ears of corn. I bought one lot of ancients from a fellow, there were about 35 ancients (some good, and some really ratty) and this was one of them. I paid roughly $4 per, and I am pleased. And look... you're welcome to give me your opinions as well as facts any time! (It'll be OUR SECRET!!!!!!!!) Listen, thanks again Doug... much appreciated. Marchal Steel
