I was just on the US mints web site and noticed they are making a Burnished ASE for 2009 with the West Point mintmark. The mint stated that they started this program in 2006.I found this info when I went on the subscription area of the site. Can anybody tell me if this is the same burnished coins as in 2006,2007 and 2008. Thanks Randy
It's the same coin Randy. Now if they'd get off their duffs and start production, there'd be many happy folks in these parts......
Currently there are no plans to make the '09w ASE or proof Eagles. I hope they change their minds so there isn't a gap in the set.
subscription section of mint web site implies otherwise. http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wc...ctId=13941&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=10201
You can sign up for a subscription, which puts you in line if and when they start minting the 2009's. The premiums have been dropping on the bullion silver eagles which should mean supply is catching up with demand. I'm beginning to get optimistic that we will be seeing Burnished and Proof ASEs by the end of the year.
I hope so too. Keeping fingers crossed! Currently the mints website still says no. http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&categoryId=13738&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=10191&top_category=10191
The mint has continued to maintain production will begin when they have acquired enough supplies to meet the demand for all ASE (and AGE) products. Every week that passes by means (likely) lower mintage for the year on the proof and uncirculated coins. I would recommend whether you want one or 50, sign up for a subscription. Likely the subscriptions would be fulfilled before any 'real-time' orders are taken. From the mint's website: Production of United States Mint American Eagle Silver Proof and Uncirculated Coins has been temporarily suspended because of unprecedented demand for American Eagle Silver Bullion Coins. Currently, all available silver bullion blanks are being allocated to the American Eagle Silver Bullion Coin Program, as the United States Mint is required by Public Law 99-61 to produce these coins “in quantities sufficient to meet public demand . . . .” The United States Mint will resume the American Eagle Silver Proof and Uncirculated Coin Programs once sufficient inventories of silver bullion blanks can be acquired to meet market demand for all three American Eagle Silver Coin products.
