Check out these red flecks. they may be hard to see... they aren't scrapes, just areas where this coin are much richer red in color than the rest. Most prominent on chin, forehead, hair on back of head, and in the lettering kinda under the paper that can't be seen very well in a photo. What do you all think about this? Kinda neat on a brand new release.
That's a new one on me... what the heck are "steam marks" It looks like carbon spots or some sort of toning to me...
ok, but where do they come from? I honestly have never heard the term steam stains or steam marks before today.

mint wash Mint wash sounds like the explanation. Just curious, I thought only proofs and such were put through the mint wash. Business strikes go through it too?
