Came across 2 damaged Silver Certificates. Both Series 1957. Are these worth anything even with being damaged. One is worse than the other.
I'm not a paper expert, but the first one would be worth very, very marginally over face value (like maybe $1.10-$1.25 or something). The second one, I would tape it back together and spend it, or give it to a kid or something.
both are worth a slight bit over face, but the bottom note is terrible. I wouldnt just spend it though. keep it or like the 1 suggestion, give it to a young collector to spark an interest. Spending it would likely just get it destroyed once it got sent to the feds.
I have an envelope full of "spendable" collectible currency. Mind you, I've not spent it yet, but I've got just some neat stuff that's beat up. For instance, a couple of years ago, I was tearing up envelopes (as I often do), and the moment I tore it, I decided to look inside. Well, there was a red seal $5 I had put in it long ago. <sigh> Anyway, I've not taped it back together yet. I'll probably give it in change to a customer who buys something at a show.
I'll just leave them in the envelope I found them in then I guess. Maybe in 30 years they'll get me a gallon of gas.

The first one is not terrible....i would save it. The 2nd one is, well, look above for suggestions...
The 1st would be ok as a space filler until something nicer came along but alas the second I think is on it's way to meet it's maker
