Whats everyones opinion on the appearance of this coin? Ideally how much would you shell out for this speciman? Thinking about purchasing this coin and need an unbiased opinion.

I am long detached from buying coins now but in the past I once owned a full set of CC Dollars (1980's) I have always felt that it's not what others think the value is to them, but what it's value is to me and my collecting goals.

If this is soething you desire and at first glance you have questions about if it belongs in your collection, then pass on it and wait for another example!
Yes, I know it is expensive, but afterall it is your collection right?

Always buy the best you can afford.....if you cant afford what you want you can always save up and then get an example that purrs like a Tiger!

My personal opinion is that is a nice coin. I like its looks. As for price that exact coin sold on heritage for $2530 on 4/30/2009 - so if a dealer bought it they are probably asking $3000. If that is the case then I would say the price is in line with what I see on heritage - just my opinion.

I agree with RickieB, try to buy the highest you can afford. I'm not sure what your budget is, but for an AU50 coin the price doubles to around 5,500, and in AU55 it jumps to about 7,900 (NumisMedia Prices). lol and then the prices just get crazy after that.

Just my opinion but if XF45 is what your looking for, I would pass on this one, only because personally I don't like the color, and what ever is on the eagles breast I find distracting.

Search results for: Check out some other ones that sold in that grade, but if you like this one, and it fits your collection, I say buy it.

    It's a very generous XF-45 IMO

It's a very generous XF-45 IMO, no luster that I can see at all.
This may be an excellent example of market grading over riding technical grading - I see no luster at all. It does not necessarily have to have it but there should be something else about it to compensate for lack of it such as strong strike or lack of marks and I don't see what it may be?
