I just realized I have a set of PMG graded, 55 EPQ, poker chip notes. I am trying to figure out if there is much of a premium for them having consecutive serial numbers. Thanks Bob
Say What!! First off, please post images of the notes.... Second, I would say yes, these are very expensive notes in high grade with CHCU examples running from 15-18K each. I for one would love to see them!! SGR
I assume you're talking about 1923 $10 US Notes? They are fairly valuable by themselves...whether or not having consecutive serial numbers adds much value depends on how many you have. btw: Looking at the results of the recent heritage auction, I see a PMG 58 eqp and a PMG 53 and they each went for $6325 ($5500 + an $825 buyer premium). A Gem 65 went for $13,800.
Ah ha now I know what you are talking about LOL I thought it was some sort of exotic actual paper Poker gaming item LOL this is what happens when one dont know all the terms relating to US currency What I will say is they are lovely looking notes :hail:
Very nice. If I were to sell them, I'd probably list them separately and give the buyer(s) and option on buying one or both. Those look like they'd probably fall in the $6-7K each range based on the prices I mentioned in my prior post.
Nice notes Bob.... Heritage is a very good gage as mentioned, however, consecutive SN#s to the right collector may prove good for you. The Paper Money Market is a little soft at the moment and there are several Large Auctions coming up this Summer. I have been looking at a PMG 66 at 15.4K but hesitant to pull the trigger due to other notes of interest! Thanks for sharing these with us!! SGR
Tough call on that. A PMG 66 epq sold this weekend (on Heritage) at $18,400, but the same grade sold for $23K in September of 2008. Back in 2006 they could have been had for less than $10K!! As you said though, $15.K will buy a lot of other notes and aside from being rare, those "Poker Chips" aren't nearly as attractive as a lot of the other large sized notes. Based on what I like to spend on my notes, $15.4K would buy me between 100 and 200 notes for my collection!!!
oh my... that note sure is purdy. I will have to disagree with dursin on that. i love it!!! Great notes!!
I didn't say it wasn't 'purdy'. In fact, since small size notes are my favorite, I find it sorta attractive in a big 'small size note' kinda way. What I meant though is that imho, it really doesn't compare to some of the other large size notes...for instances, the "Bison" that immediately preceded it.
no offense my friend lol I do find the pictured note as being very attractive... but i do see your point when in comparison with a Bison note, it might not be as great. but it is close lol
Again, didn't say anywhere that it wasn't attractive....I just think when it comes to large size notes, there are many that are more attractive. That in no way infers that the pictured note is unattractive...just sayin' that you can get a stack of nicer looking large size notes for what that one costs! Personally though, I think Jackson was lost until he found his true home on the small size twenties!!
Bob... Did you recently purchase those, if you dont mind me asking? If not, where did you happen upon them? Beautiful Notes for sure! SGR
Syngraphographer: I got these from my dad when he passed away. They have been in my safe for years. I finally got around to having all of the bills and coins graded last month and everything turned out to be worth much more than we thought. Anyhow i listed the first note on eBay and it sold for $7000, but the buyer flaked out. When i listed the second one, a bidder emailed me and let me know that they were consecutive notes. Bob
