I mentioned in a thread I had a few rolls of "unsearched" pennies coming from eBay. Well they arrived today and I thought I would post my results (wins/losses). lot #310 - Showing 1913 + Indian Head - Paid $21.50 (2)1914,17,18,(2)19,20,24,25,27,29 (4) Indian Heads (all VG) 1900-1908 no mint marks steel cent various others lot #318 - Showing 1909 VDB + Indian Head - Paid $68.90 1909 VDB 1915 S 1909 S mint steel cent (6) Indian Head (all VG) 1900-1908 no mint marks various other teens and 20's nothing that filled any holes in my collection. So no 1909 VDB S, no Flying Eagles, no quality Indian Heads Did I get my money worth? In my mind. Yes. Do I have a bunch of wheats I don't really need. Yes. Here is some eye candy. Grade suggestions for the VDB? What the heck is that stuff on the 15S? So I figure: lot 310: (4) IH = $8 $5 of wheat various dates Value = $13 lot 318: (6) IH = $12 1909 = $4 1909 VDB = (depending on Grade) $20 1915 S = (depending on Grade) $12 $2 of wheat various dates Value = $50 Spent $90.40 Got back $63.00 Was the hunting through pennies worth the $32.60? If nothing else sounds like you had fun. Not sure about that 1909 I like the way it looks, but the spot above the 09 worries me(could just be a carbon spot). No clue on the 1915-S when I first saw it I thought it spent some time in the ground - but I really do not know. Wait for one of the experts.
As I'm sure others may have told you, there's no such thing as "unsearched" rolls on ebay. What you received are seeded rolls with common date coins. Your money would have been MUCH better spent on some quality coins. The VDB is AU, about a $15 coin. The 1915S is corroded and cleaned, net grade VG, about $15-20 value. The rest are common dates that sell for 50 cents or so in G. If the Indians are at least G, they are about a buck each. For the $100 you spent you could have bought a nice 64 red VDB or a real nice AU 1915-S.
Ummm That 15S looks awful nice to me. Can you get better pictures of the obverse? I'd say you made some decent money on the 15S alone. Probably your most expensive of the bunch. and your 1905 and 1906 seem like they have something going on in the denticles on the obverse under the date.
