I am trying to find the grey book prices of Indian head cents but I am not able to find this online, anywhere. I found a seller who has 200 IHC's but we are not able to determine a fair price without a grey book. Can someone help?

    Okay, I give up.
Do you mean the Grey sheet?
    Or the red Book?

If they are ave. circ. Indian's the price is between $45 and $60 a roll depending on the mix - if mostly late 1880's and 90's the price may rise a little if all 1900's the price may lower.

    I meant grey sheet :)
I was told that all letters of liberty would atleast be partially visible in all the coins.
There are 15 coins from 1880's /1890's and 70 coins from the 1900's.

If you could give me an idea of how much the going rate for such a grade and number it would be great. Thanks very much.

I tried the greysheet website and checked the newsletters but it doesn't have a price for Indian head at lower grades. Only PR/AU/XF on some of the issues.

Thanks,I found it but that is only for a roll of G or VG. But what about grades better than that? By what factor would the price increase for better grades?

    A few things for clarification:

So, we are talking 200 coins.

ALWAYS pay attention to exactly what is said. If this is what was said, then they are most likely rolls of G/VG coins. You did not note that all letters are completely visible, but that all letters are "at least" PARTIALLY visible. Fine and better grades require that all letters be complete. Furthermore, "LIBERTY" is only one aspect that determines a grade. By the description, I would only be able to assume that the coins would, for the majority, be G/VG coins.

    15 + 70 = 85

There are 200 coins, right? What are the other 115? Or is this 15% and 70% (which still only gives you 85%, so I would have to assume the other 15% are 1850's-1860's?)

Nevertheless, you would still want to price the rolls as though they were 1900's rolls. As well, there is a bad habit of people lumping in wheaties as IHC coins. MAKE SURE they are all truly IHC.

Like I said, it sounds like they are rolls of G/VG coins. If there truly are coins that are higher grade, then the price would most definitely be higher. However, you would need to know that the coins were not damaged and, thus, non-collectible. If the coins are non-collectible, then there is no premium, and may actually lower their value below G/VG depending on the damage.

It would be safest for you to act upon these rolls as if they were lower grade, common 1900's IHCs unless you are able to validate the actual content of the rolls to make a better determination on their contents.

Awesome that was super clear. I will make sure I factor in all these when I actually take a look at the coins tomorrow.

In general, a quesation about the grey sheet prices, if someone sold it AT grey sheet price, would that be an attractive buy?

To me it would be a good buy - not a great buy. Just my opinion. To me you could buy runs of 1900's in vf(without S mints) and save money. Then again for grey sheet I (after looking and making sure all were fine or better) I would probably buy them anyway - cause I like IHC's.

Me and a buddy just split a half bag of Indians ( 2500 ), we paid 2K for it.
Many commons and ag/thru vg, but a very large amount of XF and AU's as well.

The seller was a walk up at a coin show and offered the bag at $2000, we did not haggle, but jumped on it after looking at only 1 handful.
