I found this 2 week ago in a roll from my Credit Union. I think it may a Die variety but not to sure?from what I gather from the Cherrypicker guide I thing the hub is # 5 from there on I am lost.
You actually found that in a roll from the bank? I wonder what Shulb put that into circulation?:headbang:
Redstone CU If I am to find anything old it is always from my credit Union they only have roll that member turned in.they don't get rolls from the Fed & Borgovan thanks for the link!!!
Yep - looks like FS 2.98 or 2.99 - no broken letters or the 2.99 partially broken C. I am leaning towards 2.99. Nice find.
No, it's a normal 1868. To start with there are two basic reverse types that you must start with on 1868 dated coins. If the tip of the star above the 5 points at the E which it does, it is the more common reverse type called the reverse of 1867. The business of the 5 varieties only comes into play when the star tip points right at the S and not the E. So none of that matters. This is the most common 1868 that there is. Thanks, Bill
I agree with jello, Two ways things like that get into rolls would be that, as jello says, somebody thought it was a non-US coin. Another is that those neat little do it yourself coin rolling devices that they sell at wally world causes people to miss stuff if they are rolling coins in a hurry. I find a lot of good stuff in those types of rolls. Have Fun, Bill
