OK, I thought it would be fun to do another weekly series of polls. The idea behind this one will be to run through the state quarter program and see what designs are the most popular.

Here is how this poll will work. Every week, I will post a poll containing 2 years worth of state quarters. The poll will allow multiple choices to be picked. So, if you like every coin from those 2 years you can vote for all of them if you want. The poll will close after 7 days and the next poll will be posted. After 5 weeks, all the designs will have been voted on in this manner. The top 10 highest scoring designs will then be put in a poll against each other in the 6th and final week (and for that poll, each voter will only be able to choose one design). In the event of a tie, I will find some way to sort it out. ;)

This week, I'll start with the first 2 years of the state quarter program (1999 and 2000). Please vote for the designs you like.

If you don't like any of them then don't vote for any in this round. The voting is to accumulate points for these designs to be in the final round. Designs that don't get votes won't make the cut. ;)

Tough choice for me, gonna go with Maryland. I really like the State Capital design on the coin, to say nothing of the actual building in Annapolis. It's just up the street from my favorite Italian resturant.

Well, that one will be up in a few weeks. Right now I was hoping everyone would vote for any design they liked or felt was appealing...not just their favorite design. ;)

Once we narrow down a top ten, then I'll do a final "championship" poll.

Thanks for voting. I will admit that my favorite design isn't in either of these years either. My favorites are Utah, Oregon and Alaska. :)

Apart from South Dakota, I also liked Arizona, Alaska, Oklahoma, and Nevada.

I like Oklahoma and Nevada too...but I once saw a different Nevada design that I just loved but wasn't the final design. Had it been their design...it would have been my favorite. Personally, I have never really liked the South Dakota quarter...but a lot of people seem to think it's the best design.

    Here is that Nevada design:

This design looks gr8...wonder why this wasn't the final one.

I guess I like the SD quarter because I like the intricate details on all the four Presidents' faces...nicely created design.

I don't know much about the history of it...I just know that it was designed by Daniel Carr and didn't make the final cut. Here are some of his designs: http://www.designscomputed.com/coins/sq_2006.html

But, his Nevada design is by far my favorite of any of the final designs or design proposals I have seen.
