THANK YOU CAMARO FOR THE EXPLANATION :)
I think there are small pores on the face of the flowing hair liberty.
I'm not going to buy it! After I read this article :D
    I'm 90% sure that it's fake!
I want to buy slabbed coins,so sad I'm not in America!
But I missed America! I was so young when I went there...

Sorry, I didn't notice that you live in Lebanon. I know, as I am sure you do too, that Lebanon is well known as a source for high-quality forgeries of many coins, including US classics. If you are buying in your home area, definitely avoid the raw ones! Best of luck!

I tried that before and no luck. It might be my browser. It doesn't really matter anyway.

I think you just need to become really good at the hobby because of where you live. As was said, that is an area for high quality forgeries. So, you must learn to detect them. Posting pictures here is a good way to learn. Keep it up but whatever you do...don't give up. :)

I agree with the advice given here. Be double cautious because of the area you live in. BUT don't give up. I was faced with the same problem collecting U.S coins and living in Germany. I also bought my share of fakes here (1800 dime, 2 cent 1872, 1857-S half, 1838 half, 1798 Dollar.... and a few others i don't remember or want to remember). At the end I decided to start buying at auction in the U.S for everything of any value. AND read and compare pictures so you know what the real ones 'feel' and look like.....This is much easier nowadays with the internet.
    Don't give up guy!

One more thing to know too...if you do start seeing slabbed coins be careful with those too. In the US we are starting to see counterfeit slabs so it's probably only a matter of time before they start popping up all over the world. There have always been tampered with slabs, but now there are fake slabs too.

    Hello there

Would it be possible to see the date area of this coin also??

    Thanks!

Without reading all the other posts, 2 major issues immediately jump out :
    1. TOOLING - the eagle's "lip" has obviously been reworked. What else have they carved in ? How much of the "detail" is real ?
    2. CLEANING - harshly cleaned
I'll look more closely when I get home.

    It looks genuine, but troubled.

I see no reason to call it fake. I think it's authentic (based on incomplete pictures - need full obverse).

Yes, it's V-4 (LM-10). Only die marriage with 1 outer berry, no inner berries, beneath left wing. r.3

F15 details, cleaned, possibly tooled, net VG8. No way this coin winds up in a problem-free slab.

Because you're smart ! There's plenty of dogs out there.

It's tough finding problem-free examples in this grade / price range. I think $1400 is high. Greysheet for VG is about $1000.
