Here is a coin i showed you some time back, but these are much better (not perfect, still slightly out of focus!) pictures which bring out the true color of the coin.

It is an 1795 1/2 cent, variety C-1, with I instead of 1 in the date. Thick planchet. It has 2 short cuts on rim before the bust, and a small nick on the edge at States.

I bought this coin at the Norweb auction in 1988. It was purchased by Albert Holden from Henry Chapman in 1909.

I'd be interested to hear if you grade as Bowers & Merena did in 1988. What would the net grade be discounting for the defects?

    Thanks!

VF-35, just a guess though as I am no specialist in early copper.

The reverse looks a LOT better than the obverse.
Great candidate for a dual grade, but they don't do that anymore.
Obverse will probably control the overall grade.
    I see it as Fine.

Nope - I would not say way over the line. I am willing to be you saw the coin and posted the grade. :) My thought was the same as yours when I first saw it - then I looked some more at it. Then I got out my grading book and did a little reading. And if Eduard would send me that puppy I might go XF myself. :)

You guys are good, really good.

B & M graded this VF 30 in 1988. (No net grade due to defects mentioned though).

    Thanks!
