I am hoping someone here can help me. I need some coins. the coins I need are nothing really special. Basically I need quarters, dimes and nickels from the years 1950 and 1985. Do you have any advice on where I can get these? I know I could just check my loose change but that would take for ever.
You can go to the bank and get boxes of rolled change and look through it and then cash it back it....or you can look on ebay. Speedy
How many do you need? The 1985 dates should not be hard from circulation--get a bunch of coin rolls from the bank, as has been suggested. The 1950 dates would be very tough from bank rolls--since the dimes and quarters from that year were silver, they were culled years ago, and the chance of finding them in quantity from bank rolls is about zero. You can find nickels from 1950 in bank rolls, but you will need to go through a ton to get any quantity--I went through ten rolls yesterday, and the oldest was from 1960 (I figure someone already searched those.) If you don't care about condition, you should be able to buy these coins for not that much (if they are very worn), I am guessing maybe $0.15 for the nickels, $0.50 for the dimes, and $1.50 for the quarters from a dealer. I don't have a price guide in front of me, so I am just guessing. The dimes and quarters are not going to be close to face value, because the silver alone is worth about five times the face value of the coin. If you want nicer coins, they are going to be more expensive.
I am going to sell some duplicates soon, most denominations and mostly silver but not all. If you want, PM me on what yrs. you are looking for.
