Hey, it's worth a try. If a buyer that does not know a genuine ANACS slab from a homemade ANACS comes along and buys it the ruse will have been worth it.

This is an example of why a collector must do his homework and at least get a rudimentary education before buying coins.

very true.... but both the seller and any one buying it believing it to be ANACS certified should be drop kicked for it.... lol

I thought it was funny that the title lists it as MS 64, the slab says MS63, and condition is listed as "circulated". the condition just gets worse as you move down the page!

The BEST part is they list it as a "CC", I don't see ANY mink mark at all. There is one offer I'd love to see how much. I was gonna offer $5 bucks.

The holder has CoinWorld imprinted on it also, and he didn't even spell Peace right. Maybe you're only getting a "piece" of the dollar?

That is so bad. I know it's not the case, but it is so bad almost like the seller is trying to make a point that people will buy anything.

And it sold for $40.00 + $5.00 S&H. Must have been the fancy holder that drew the attention. :rolling:

OMG!, $40!!!!!!! We are in the wrong business. No I didnt offer on it treasurehunt. Are people REALLY that stupid? Could ebay go after this guy for fraud? I bet he has 2 ID's or a friend how bought it. We'll have to look for the feedback on this one!

He also has a "misscut" dollar with one border narrower than the others for $25. Scissors anyone?

It is a Morgan Dollar, not a Peace dollar. In the conman, ahem, I mean seller's defense he said "NICE PIECE" in which he spelled piece correctly. Used as in a unit or chunk. He did not mean a Peace Dollar nor did he offer one for sale.

Amazingly the coin sold for a best offer of $40... P.T. Barnum was right.

    I love this forum!

I love this forum, because just a few month ago I would have possibly fallen for that offering, but now, just by glancing at the pic before reading the posts, I knew it was a phony slab! :hail:

    Yes, she can be taught!!:thumb:

And a 97.4% feedback rating?? Who in their right mind would buy from someone with that low of rating? :headbang:

Big sigh! I hope the buyer doesn't pay or ebay stops the transaction.

It blows my mind... THIS kind of stuff gets sold, yet I posted an item last night that got pulled within hours of going up.

It was a sac dollar in an ANI holder with a starting bid of 99 cents, and the only time I mention ANI is to question their grading skills in the description! The coin was graded PF70 DCAM and I guess I made the mistake of calling it a DCAM Proof in the title, even though it IS obviously a deep cameo proof.

I wrote a nasty email to eBay and even mentioned this thread, for what good it will do...

    Sorry, needed to vent. :)
