It is missing part of the die in four places on the hair and one by the tear duct. It is quite noticable, but this pic isn't the greatest.

What is this you error experts?

I found this cud on the forhead of a penny. It looks like a forehead wart on Abe....

    coppercoins certifiably unstable

First coin is an overpolished die. No premium value.

Second coin is not a CUD. Those are only the result of the edge of a die breaking completely away. What you have is a small die chip - also common.

Also, it is not a cud, when it is small, it's a die chip. If it were larger it would be called an interior die break.

A CUD involves the rim of the coin.

    Thanks,
    Bill
PS: You should never handle a coin that has luster that way. Ultimately your fingerprints will show up on the coin, diminishing its value. Always hold a coin by its edges.

    Thanks Again,
    Bill
