Losing Faith in the US Mint

The US mint canceled my Lincoln silver proof about a month ago. Today, I received an email saying that it was no longer canceled. When I check the order history on their website it says that the order has shipped but further down it says the order has been canceled. It has had this same message for over a month. They also canceled my Harrison first day of issue order about a month ago. I reordered it and they first billed my credit card and then it disappeared, which is the same thing that occurred the first time I order it. Their website indicates that my order is in process and the product is in stock and reserved. It said that last time for a month before they canceled my order. Is anyone else having serious issues with the mint this year? I'm starting to lose faith.

What I find quite odd is that they cancel orders without providing any reason for their decision. Are they unable to process the order? Do they have too many customers anyway? :D Just a mere "The following order has been cancelled" is kind of strange ...

Lost you, I think, after the second sentence. Guess you have to understand, though, they know they'll never go out of business, no matter how lousy they threat customers....

Unfortunately the US Mint has you between a rock and a hard place.
    Their ordering system is terrible.
Their prices are way too high.
But if you go out to the secondary market the prices are even higher.

That's why I stopped buying from the Mint back in 1985.
And of course that means I don't collect anything recent since I would have to pay the higher dealer prices.
Well, there is one exception. The state quarters. I buy them UNC from dealers.
But I don't and won't buy anything else after 1964 dated coins.

I had a good track record with the mint until the last two months. Something serious is going on with them. Is someone doing a stress test on them instead of the banks? Has the swine flue infected the entire staff? Are they closing down their unprofitable lines and getting concessions from their union? Does anyone have a inclined board, some plastic wrap, and some water so that we can get to the bottom of this one?

The mint has gone to hell in a hand basket ever since they moved their fullfillment operations out of Memphis....

They did OK with the Lincoln commemorative but they have really broken down on virtually everything since that..........no Eagles - silver, gold, or platinum. I guess they are resting on their laurels after successfully minting the Ultra High Relief.

Geez, don't know what Dad did back then......No , wait a minute, I do know. Back then you used to write a letter to the director of the mint requesting a certain issue or coin. And you know what? They used to send it to you.

Lots of posts about the Mint's poor services. If they haven't yet outsourced this work to India or China, just wait until that happens.

    i got mine.. off Ebay.

i too had my order cancelled by the mInt, only to get the letter today saying they were reinstating it. I already got the replacement coins off Ebay. Wonder what rejected coins i might recieve from the mint now.... so i will possibly have 2 sets at twice the price... not a bad deal i guess lol
