I wish I could take a pic.

The Morgan in question has a gold/bronze look with some mild green highlights around the cheek, hairline and liberty band. The only noticible wearing is above the ear (although it still separates the ear from the hair cleanly), above the eyebrow, and on the eagle's chest and right wing. All which is fairly minor. Also there are no considerable scratches that I've noticed. The facial area is clean as well.

Can anyone help with a ballpark?

    Thanks in advance!

Avg prices on Ebay for AU in the $50-$75 range, for a raw coin. Higher prices $75-$125
for coins in NGC or Anacs holders.

I bet that is not wear....you see the O mint was not the best mint in town and they didn't do too good of job on striking coins...and that means most of their coins have weak strikes...I have seen many that is weak right above the ear.

How does it compare to this one?

The one pictured, IMO, is probably XF+, not reaching AU. The luster is worn on the true highest points, on the cheek, cap and back of the eagle's head, indicating it's been circulated. Having said that, I've got MS-slabbed New Orleans stuff that's "worn" almost as badly, the result of a weak strike.

    Hey Dave----nice coin...
I sent in 2 Morgan dollars to ANACS this year and both were from BU rolls...both seem to be great strikes...one was a S and the other O...the S came back MS65 and the O came back MS62....

Here's a sample of what I think is a good New Orleans Strike:

It's slabbed as a (generous because of the strike) MS63PL.

Here's an example of what I was talking about before:

This one's NGC MS64. It's a beautiful coin, an easy 66 with a better strike.

I can't wait to get this one slabbed:

The scan does it no justice - the (few) marks you can see are only breaks in the luster - there are no marks anywhere visible to the eye.

Wow, I'd say it's almost identical to your first pics Dave.
