Fake or real? Please, look it very carefully. This coin has 23.3 Grams of weight as the authenthic one. and 35 mm diametre again as the authenthic one. so, hmm! what makes me think that it might be fake??? It doesn't look like silver,I don't know,I feel copro nickel coin while holding it and not silver. And the real one is 0.917 SILVER! or Zilber. 1893 2 Rupien German East Africa is a rare coin with only mintage of 33000. Rare coins has lots of fakes. hmm! OK. I EXCHANGED, THE FAKE ITALIAN 20 LIRE 1936 ( http://www.cointalk.com/forum/t51299/ )that I bought few days ago to the same DEALER with this coin. OK. That fake coin that I bought for 250$ for this coin, wait a minute!! Does this coin worth 250$?What do u think? so first,I want your opinions dear experts. Tell me, FAKOREAL? **EXCHANGING to the same dealer is doubting me that it might be fake, nothing is imposible. Here are the photos: I hope it's not fake again :S
Based on your pics my inclination is to say this coin is a cast fake. If I am wrong in that assumption the coin has definitely been very harshly cleaned and is not worth anywhere near $250. I would hesitant to do any more business with this dealer.
I guess my lack of knowledge might show here but I think it looks genuine... it looks high grade silver. Best wishes, Mike.
Based on the pic's details, the coin looks genuine to me but just to be on the safe side you better test the metal. Someone in the US coin forum told a way of differentiating silver coins from other coins with a tissue paper experiment. Give it a try.:smile
Looks genuine to me as well. Just polished to hell and gone. This would be an example of a "bad cleaning"
GUYS the coin is not genuine at all, look at the edge, zoom in, u will find extra metals. I took my money back.:thumb:
