I'm looking for bags or rolls of pre 1960's cents, nickels, dimes, quarters, halfs, ect. I've tried looking on-line but most sites i've found charge a lot for them and not sure if there trust worthy or even what I'm gonna get for my money. I've tried going to local banks but most of them give me weird looks and don't understand what i'm actually asking for. So is there a better way to ask or go about this when dealing with banks. Also does anyone know of a good TRUST WORTHY web site that I can go to order bags or un-opened rolls of old coins?
1st off because of the weight they are going to be kind of expensive. The only ones that have the rolls & rolls of stuff are normally the big shops that advertise in coin world. The ones with the full page adds. You also have to remember some of them will slip in sliders in the rolls. Coins originally don't come rolled. They come in bags so the one you may get can be BU but have tons of bag marks. Yeah a bank isn't going to be able to do that. They don't label the rolls & they are not into holding rolls of BU coins.
Well I'de like to know how to get both kinds. It would seem that unc mercury dimes and wheaties will be harder to get. but would be wiling to pay for rolls like morgan's and wheaties if the price is right and I know I'm gonna get what I pay for and not get jerked around.
That's kind of what I was wondering. So what does slip in sliders to the rolls mean? So if the best way to get rolls or bags is threw a dealer. Then is there one you all recomend? Or is there a better way to go about getting bulk?
Take a look at APMEX. Never heard much about their rolls, but otherwise they are generally respected.
http://www.lccoins.com/shop/index.php?target=categories&category_id=358 ...a little pricey but I have bought from them and they are trustworthy. You can call on the phone and talk to a person who can answer your questions (not a machine).

Some companies slip in (AU) Almost uncirculated in with the BU. These are sometimes referred to as sliders.
Many of us work for years to get at stuff like this. So is there a better way to ask or go about this when dealing with banks. Also does anyone know of a good TRUST WORTHY web site that I can go to order bags or un-opened rolls of old coins? First it depends what you are looking for? At shows and through referrals Lincoln's cents, Jefferson's and Roosevelt's are still around plus a few Washington's and Franklin's but they are mostly tubed. I've never seen a bank wrapped roll of Mercury's myself. First for truly unopened original bank wrapped rolls get ready to pay a bunch and also not always get what you paid for. I've paid $300 for both tubed and bank wrapped 1943-S Lincolns and threw them in the bargain bin because they were ruined with corrosion. Sometimes you'll buy say a roll of 1955-S Lincoln's and the end coins are fine but end up with 35 circulated wheat's because that was the way the wrapped them then. The seller having unopened original stuff did not know nor can you go back on them - you pay your penny and take your ride! Common circulated silver or wheat rolls are everywhere, shows, shops, clubs. Those have all been searched and picked over unless it's from a little old man, (or lady) that comes dragging them in - and that only happens once every 5 years or so. I think you need to decide a little better what you really want to get, do your research and keep searching but beware, there is much to learn about rolls or bags. I have had the oppertunity to open and search perhaps only 15 original mint sewn bags of Lincoln's in my time and they are dwindlin fast in the market. The bags that are left are mostly like 1979, 77, 74 - the years with very few doubled dies and I will not even pay double face for those bags - you just can't come out on them plus if you had to ship them it would be murder. So keep learning and gathering info and wait to buy is my advice for you.

Like these Peace Dollars I apologize I thought the thread was for a website to get the coins asked about. You can get them there. These are the ten Peace dollars I just bought.
Oh know you are right. It just looked like that sight was just geared towards investing in silver. No biggie.
