I recently purchased an unc. roll of 1957-D cents and as I examined them I found that the date seemed odd. The nine and the five were kind of "gummed up", there looks to be globes of copper inside if the loop of the nine and in the bottom of the loop on the five. About 80% of the roll has this condition, with the remaining 20% having either the nine or the five effected. Would this have any particular value because it is an entire roll, also is this even an"error coin" or just poor workmanship?
At Coin Shows years ago I used to put 57D BU Lincolns in a 1.5x1.5 flip and staple them to my business card and give them away to passerbys. Many of the coins had the filled die which was common on the 57's. Always wondered how many people still have the card and cent. Must have given away 1000 or better at various shows. Good advertising promo. :thumb:
Very common for the date/type. Very common for the date/type. With rolls "you get what you get" - sometimes you get the good stuff and sometimes you don't.
