    Hey everyone! :)

I recently required my first Anit-Slavery Token and wanted to share it all with you :D I'm not sure if these have different varieties or not (beside the rims, which on mine are reeded).

I like this one since it doesn't look to have been cleaned and shows a really nice and original color. It has really nice surfaces, and I also see some doubling in some parts!

Let me know what ya'll think! :D

I've got a token like that, too. Only yours looks better-- mine's been lacquered and is dark. Congratulations on your acquisition.

When Conder gets around to logging in, he'll fill us in on the different edge varieties of these. :thumb: He told me once but I can't remember how many there are. :goofer:

I likes! :eat: That will go nicely in your Middlesex Collection! :D

I've been waiting to get one of these for a while now :) If I'm going to get one, might as well get a good one! :D

Nice token, Middlesex D&H 1038g or h. There are three different die pairing for these tokens (two obvs and three rev) and several different edge varieties. Four different edges for 1037, ten on 1038, and six on 1039. 1037 and 1038 share the same obv, 1039 has the mans head just about centered under the word AND. On the rev of 1037 oppression is misspelled. On 1038 it is corrected, and on 1039 the lettering is smaller with more space between the words.

1038 comes with two different diagonally milled edges. One, 1038g, milled sloping down to the left //////. And the other, 1038h sloping down to the right \\\\\\ with the milling over an inscription. (I don't know what the inscription is, and there may be more than one inscription.) The 1038g is "common" and the 1038h is extremely rare.

The Am I not a Man tokens are in general common, but they are extremely popular collectables which makes them hard to get and costly for their relative abundance when found. Even low grade pieces can bring a pretty penny as Toad can tell you.

The tokens were struck for the Anti-Slavery Society but I do not know mintages, engravers or who did the striking.

The one I had, had the edge rolled, which damaged it, and it sold for 90 bucks and I picked it up for around 15 to 20 bucks in a pile of Conders. :D I spotted it in the group and it was why I bought the group so I sold it for 5 times what I paid for all of them and kept the others. :D

    Not a bad deal!

    Ribbit :)

Ps: I told ya Conder would fill us in on the edge varieties. :thumb:

This has to be one of my favorite Condor Token's too :) I have this higher grade example with the edge being milled, sloping to the right (\\\\\\)and a lower grade one with the lettered edge. These are very fun and interesting to have in a collection :D I'm just glad I finally got one! (and at an affordable price too!)

I've seen a few of these Ryan and yours is a very nice example. As stated they are always a popular piece.
