The mint website just says summer release for uncirculated sets. If your planning on a 2009 Lincoln variety set ( this will put 1982 to shame) you will need 4 P Zinc 4 D Zinc 4 P Satin Copper 4 D Satin Copper 4 S Proof Copper :rolling:
The mint set for 2009 should have everthing made for 2009 in the set but i would wait till end of the year too get it proably as not too miss out on any coins and that would include all the pennies for 2009
Even in the standard mint sets? My understanding was the 95% copper coins were only to be in the silver proof sets. Am I wrong?
In reading some of the mint blog stuff their is a little statement about the Lincoln Chronicle Set which states and I quote . "The 95% copper cents will be struck for this special set, as well as the US Mint's other annual coin sets." Now what this exactly means may be a matter of opinion. With the mint I think we will have to wait and see. The mint will be missing a huge opportunity if they do not include these coppers in their silver and clad proof sets.
Weare at the mercy of all of those above us that means whatever the mint or goverment says will and does happen,.
I am confused...it does not seem there is any clarity around which mint sets will have the copper cents..it could be you would need: 4 P Zinc 4 D Zinc 4 P Satin Zinc (Mint Set) 4 D Satin Zinc (Mint Set) 4 P Satin Copper (Silver Mint Set) 4 D Satin Copper (Silver Mint Set) 4 S Proof Copper Am I correct that mint set cents if the same material have a different finish? I could be wrong on that. I can't find an answer anywhere on what sets will have what - or what happened to the Special Lincoln set with Commem...that could have the copper satins - would it have P and D mints? Proofs? Who Knows????
Sounds like the following: 4 P Zinc Business Strike 4 D Zinc Business Strike 4 P Zinc Satin UNC (US Mint set) 4 D Zinc Satin UNC (US Mint Set) 4 S French Bronze Proof (Special Mint set, Proof set, silver proof set)
By the sounds of it, it doesn't look like it is going to happen. I suspect with them going back and forth like this between the two compositions that somehow a few zinc planchets will find their way into the mix. That would be neat. It would be like searching for the golden ticket in Willy Wonka. The mint should do something like that to create publicity buzz. Can you imagine all the people that would start buying up all the mint or proof sets with the idea of finding the odd ball coin! But Ed doesn't listen to me or anyone else on here. But I am not asking for much..... just that I receive all my coins at a reasonable time.
If you go to the subscription section and look at the 2009 Mint set, Proof set, and silver proof set it says for all three of the sets that the cents will be made of the 95% copper alloy. So unless the mint is lying again there will be NO satin finish zinc cents and the cents for this year will be 4 P zinc circ strike finish for the banks 4 D zinc circ strike finish for the banks 4 P copper Satin Finish in Mint sets 4 D Copper Satin finish in Mint sets 4 S Copper proof finish in the clad and silver proof sets and the special Lincoln set
