Heres a pic of what pvc contamination looks like http://www.encasedcollectorsinternational.org/pvc.htm
cool the article mentiosn Susan Maltby. I consulted with her on the epic post of mine so the name of the test is Beilstein ... i was oooo so close lol (ok, maybe not)
Thanks guys. Daggarjon I had already bookmarked your thread, but I didn't get around to read it yet. Blame it on the finals That test looks accurate enough, but I'd probably stick to the stretch test, hehe. Problem is the ocean between me and the plastic pages... I do think I have some coins with that green stuff :headbang: quite possibly I had already bought them contaminated by PVC when I was a kid. I believe everything I bought after my undergrad was like this: "Polyester (MylarTM) hard to stretch hard to initiate a tear; once tear begins material tears easily; tear has a rough edge" But it's quite possible that the pages I bought when I was in middle school were stretchy. I can't possibly blame myself, but it sucks anyway... Good news is most of my valuable coins are in velvet trays :thumb:
