This is just a snippet of what I have, These coins are from all over the world. I mean everywhere! New Zealend, Kenya, Zimbabwae, Indonesia, America, Europe, Russia, South Africa, Iran, India, China, Hong Kong, Colombia, plus loads of other countries. The Coins age range from around the start of the 1900's up to the 1990's. I think the oldest coin is about 1907. I havn't got a clue about coins at all. So If anyone could point me in the right direction. concerning what I should be looking for to spot a valuable coin or a particulary special coin, it would be much appreciated. Not sure if these 50 are worth anything at all, but there all very different. (If anyone has a good knowledge of world coins, is there any I should really keep an eye out for?)
The best place to start looking would be the Standard Catalog of world coins 1900 - 2008 book by Krause.
It looks like you've made a good start on a world coin collection-- lots of countries represented from all over the world. You can go globetrotting without even leaving your home!
As for references, the Kraus catalog mentioned earlier is a good place to look, but it is really big and can be a little imposing for a new collector. I got my start in world coins with R.S. Yeoman's Current Coins of the World, which at that time went from 1945 to 1968. Now I see some copies offered at Amazon.com that start at 1964, and cost about $5.00-6.00.
WELCOME to the forum. I think you should try to specialize on a particular country to start. Each country has its own history. Pick one that you like their designs or have some affinity for. Coins from any country can be valuable. GOOD HUNTING
