1881 Morgan Dollar

    This is an 82 morgan I got it at a coin show over the weekend. To me it looks to be about an Au-50 or higher. Can someone give me there opinion?

    looks to be altered surface to me maybe someone else can chime in

    what do you mean by altered surface? Has it been cleaned and what's tipping you off to that?

    I was thinking maybe polished, little hard to tell from the pics though.

    I can't judge this from the pics, but look at the action between the wings..

    look at the first 2 pics you posted and look at the way light bounces back from the coin chances are its polished thats why i said altered surface also look at the number of light marks scratch like on the obv thats another hint

    I agree that this coin has been polished and therefore is ungradable. It is most obvious to me in the last picture with the halo around "In God We Trust."

    but there is always a halo around god

    It could be normal wearing away of the luster. The luster could have worn away in the fields and remains where it is protected by the lettering.

    Then again it could be polished.

    i wonder how long ur trainign will continue i need u to be abe to verify the 1913 nickel before i buy it
