I was also wondering how long until someone like you shows up.
No disrespect, but you must like stirring up controversy.

This is a weird question: Were the Indians considered American citizens at the time?

Not until 1926, but still largely marginalised. They were not even covered in the 14th amendment that legislated that anyone born in the United States was automatically a citizen.

I don't know too much about Mexican history, so I was wondering- what's the story with Plutarco Elias Calles?

Oh yeah. About this... Not to go down the same rabbit hole, but I'm sure people who hated him back then had reasons- other than a Vox article, opinion pieces, or some random propaganda. Finding another thread to criticize A. Jackson on is not only tiresome to see and unoriginal, but also pointless. If someone thinks he's evil because of personal experiences, they should keep that opinion to themselves. If not, I'm assuming that person is looking for a disagreement, or just trolling.

The same reasoning for regimes cutting out people's tongues. Didn't happen for things they did, it happened for things they were going to say.

Yeah, those who lost family member should just shut up. My gosh, if you are Cambodian and lost members to Pol Pot keep it to yourselves, Ukrainian lost family to pogroms, shut up, and of course those annoying Jewish people shut your mouths already about WWII Germans....

You disgust me telling family members who lost loved ones to shut your mouth, and "we must be trolling" if we happen to say anything. I guess the holocaust museums and Auschwitz museum is one huge troll. Go ahead and lose your mind defending the man for genocide, I will never read it as you will be blocked. knock yourself out.
