They still do this with stamps; I sent off for an offer of 40 mint stamps for $1, free shipping.
It came with a stack of stamps on approval; naturally I have to pay for return shipping.

bet that many here wish they had a stash of un-opened Littleton coins...especially in this climate of DOOM:zombie:

Back when I was 13 I sent $2 for some Indian coin from the 11th century, I didn't anticipate the "coins on approval" and having to send them back. I sent the coins back with a note to cease and desist and never heard from them again. I still have the Indian coin, though even at $2 I probably paid too much but the experience was valuable in that I didn't buy coins through the mail again until years later.

Really cool. Littleton generally dealt in problem free coins, just that they were overpriced compared to other venues.

Yes.. the write ups are neat! I am thoroughly convinced that even at this stage of life, a move to New Zealand might be the way to go! :-D

Thanks for the post. It reminded me that I too had some from Littleton that I acquired way back when. DSCN1800.jpg

That China dollar was the one that got me started with Littleton back in 1972.
