I attended this show on Thursday and Friday and have to say it was different and better than I expected. PCGS really put on a top quality coin show. Jaime at PCGS even interviewed me for the PCGS website and I am anxious to see how it turns out. In case you're interested, here's a string on the PCGS message boards from several others who attended: http://forums.collectors.com/messageview.cfm?catid=26&threadid=716774 But the best part for me was the educational programs they put on. As I mention in the PCGS string, I attended the one on Counterfeit Coins which was excellent, and another one on PCGS's CoinFacts web program which they are greatly enhancing and will be extremely informative for all coin people. I also purchased several new coins, including one for my own set - a gorgeous PCGS MS66 BN 1869 Indian cent which has purple blue magenta toning and is spectacular and my new favorite coin! I will have to get BluCCPhotos to take pictures for me so I can show off the beauty! Any way, there were some really good coin deals and at the show and I met some nice new dealers and collectors. I know most people came for the same-day grading, but I came to shop and learn (ok, and to play some poker!) and was very satisfied with the show. (I even went home with a few hundred in gambling winnings!) I definitely look forward to the next show!
Everything I have read about this show has been positive, I hope it repeats even bigger next year. I had planned on attending as a walker, but things just did not work out this time. The 1 day grade's would have really been nice. They are slooooooow these days. As for the poker, I would have made my best effort to change your outcome
Well, well, Jack, you wish! While Rick did take me for a few dollars at the poker table, I made it up and then some at the new Texas Hold-Em game out near the black jack tables - that is really a fun game! And yes, I am definitely looking forward to the next PCGS show in Vegas - I highly recommend it to all coin people!
sounds like a fun educational show! And awesome to hear you left with some nice pocket change. Looking forward to pictures!
