I picked this up a month or two ago and I just got it photographed. This has to be one of my favorite reverses on a coin. I don't know.... something about it. What do you think? I know nothing about these..... this is Snaz's territory.
I love the reverse too. Nice defining in the strike,,and...looks like it has never...or hasn't been in a very long time...cleaned. They only made a 1917 and 1919 twenty five cent..thats it. A Vf goes for 20 bucks..and an EF is sitting at 40 dollars.

Thanks for posting it, Dollar 1948 hit the nail on the head, I see these go for a little less at shows, with less then half the mintage of it's 25cent sister (1917C)and a mintage of less then 200,000!!!!! you can't go wrong. Hold onto this guy, Newfie coins are great buys right now, and the price is only going higher. Looks like an old acetone dip eh? I saw someone post a seated dime I think on teh W.I.N.S list and he was watching it get progressively blacker as the years went by.
