Hello friends, Can anybody attribute this 1829 dime for me please? Thanks! PS-sorry for the blue tint of the pictures (bad lighting).
Easy, I just adjusted the white balance for the pics and did an auto-correct on color after that. Used Microsoft Picture Manager, it comes free with Micorsoft Office.
Yeppers, it's nice. I don't have the darn book (tough to find), but I searched the Heritage archives and found JR numbers up to 12. That doesn't mean there aren't more.
Thanks guys. Attributing these capped dimes seems not to be an easy task. I find attributing large cents difficult enough. I can imagine that these dimes are even more difficult due to the minute differences between varieties. Any help is appreciated! Thanks, Eduard
Some diagnostics for 1829 JR-7 R1: Obverse: Straight necked square base 2. S8 & S9 are distant. Reverse: Scroll ends under right tip of right base of M. I is centered under upright of E. Edit to add: Eduard, PM if you are in need of a copy of the EUSD text.
CappedBustDimes, many many thanks for your attribution help! i was starting to despair since the only way for me to attribute these, is by comparing to pictures in the Norweb and James Stack Sr. sales of 1988/1990. Both sales featured extensive runs of capped Bust dimes examples, bit i could not find one ressembling mine. Thanks again! Eduard
Short of getting a copy of the Dime Book, with a used copy recently selling on eBay at $150, there are several online resources that display the marriages variety by variety. The Russ Logan Collection http://www.logan.com/russ/collection/ A Collection of Capped Bust Dimes by Die Variety (mine, and far inferior that Russ', though two of his coins are in my set) http://www.byronreed.com/byrons_collections/capped_bust_dimes/index.htm
