Ahhhhh, yes. That's what I was hoping for. Five opinions. I can make some reasonable consensus out of that.
Okay, I looked at the 1879 and the mark on the cheek. There's good news and bad news. First, the Bad News: It was definitely NOT caused by the Mint. It didn't happen when another coin hit it in the collection bin. It didn't happen in a Mint bag. No evidence of reeding on either side of the nick. Now the Good News: It doesn't look NEARLY as bad in hand as it does in the image. It was accentuated by the lighting setup I use. I'd send it in to NGC just to see what they'd say except the coin isn't valuable enough. It would be a waste of money.
