I haven't gone and bought coins before so I was excited yesterday when we went. Some of the coins were over priced and some were the right price nothing at a steal. I got 2 Mercury dimes 1940 and 1941, 3 V nickels 1894 1899 1906 all heavily worn but my first v nickels so I'm happy, and 1 morgan 1921. The morgan is great except for 2 scratches that run down liberty's face . Oh well my first non register or pocket change coins (minus the ones my grandpa gave me)
Thank you were going to go again today we had so much fun just going and looking that were going again! My boyfriend was anti coin guy until yesterday he was like, "wow I didn't know that there was this much to coins" so he wants to start collecting. I'm going to surprise him today and buy him a coin. He's got coin fever.

Well you have just taken the 1st real steps in coin collecting LOL Feels real good dont it  Now dont forget to also look at the Paper that is out there, look real carefuly at all the wonderful works of art which can be yours for a fraction of the cost of something you would pay for at a art gallery LOL CONGRATULATIONS now go spread the word LOL
Congratulations. Those "V" nickels that you're referencing are probably more commonly known as Liberty Head nickels, just in case that's helpful to you in your research.
First three coins I purchased were '23, '24 and a '25 Peace Dollars in BU (1964) condition for the bargain price of $3 each.....:smile
I just bought my first coin from a dealer two days ago. I did not "love" the coin, but it was in my budget and it finished my wheat cent collection of having every year and mint mark, I will have to start on the varieties. Congrats to you and me for being new collectors of "cool" coins. Cheers, Chris Kampmann
1883 Morgan, Philly mint. About 3 weeks ago. Purchases since then: 5 other assorted common morgans, that I may resell. 87, 88, 89 silver eagles. Assortment of circulated state quarters.
I hadn't bought any coins sooner because I am working on my wheat collection. If I "borrowed" some of my mom's wheat cents I could probably be close to finishing it. I am still a ways away but if anyones missing 1958 D I have about 30 of them. I still buy them from the registers at work even though I have them. LOL. And my best friend was counting her registers and talking to me and told me she found some halves that weren't Kennedy so I told her she absolutely must buy them and I'd pay her back. I also got 2 more 1942 Mercury dimes from another friend and 5 more Franklin silver dimes. A lot of them are repeaters but I love getting them. Also my older co worker has a coin collection he's going to give me in 2 days .
