my jaw dropped when i saw this coin. i wish i could afford something that nice. so beautiful. congrats
WOW! That is an awesome coin! I have always loved older proofs. Even though I will never afford them. Expecially one that nice.
Whoa, momma!!! That is one impressive coin! I see a couple of lines. Die cracks? - Out the top of Liberty's head? - Between "TA" of "STATES"? - Between "AR" of "QUARTER"? I don't think of proof coins having die cracks, but I don't know why they couldn't. I know the coins get an extra strike or two. Do they also use extra pressure? That could account for die cracks.
Yes this is a nice coin. Pushing my curiosity button, I checked the heritage archives, and I didn't realize how widely traded this issue is. In the upcoming signature sale, ending apr 29th there is a PCGS PR64, I'm not sure I would have agreed with that grade. What do you think>LOt 441 auction 1124.
The picture is a little deceiving, those scratches are on the slab and not the coin. This piece is really mark free.
Those pictures are very hard to judge by... The pictures make the obverse look a little hazy and the reverse looks like it has some grease or something on it? (black streak??)... If I was the seller and these things were not true I'd be a little miffed... cause from the pictures it doesn't look like a very nice coin.
My comments weren't a slam at your coin. I happen to like die cracks. Just curious, especially since it's a proof. Overall I suspect most people would prefer such a coin without die cracks. Once again, a very impressive coin.
I know and I apprecieate the comments! You do find die cracks on proofs from time to time, I think it gives them character.
